CeeKay started dancing in 2006 with Foreign Bodies (also known as The School of Groove) and picked up Hip Hop, Popping and Locking. He had also participated in numerous performances and competitions through the years, and had experienced much in the dance scene, be it within Singapore or in foreign lands. CeeKay is also actively involved with spreading the knowledge of Locking to dancers, particularly through sessions organized for the Lion City Lockers community.
Biggest achievements include winning KO Night 2008 Locking Category as a locking duo called “FonKay Styles”, as well as representing Singapore to compete in locking competitions in Japan (Hook Up Locking Battle @ Osaka) and in Taiwan (Max Party Locking Battle @ Kaohsiung).
CeeKay had also learnt much from meeting many foreign dancers through events and lessons, including Buddha Stretch (Elite Force Crew), Greg Campbellock Jr (The Original Lockers), Hilty & Bosch, Swift Lockers, Woong (Originality Lockers), Elmo and Yaobai (So Funky), Gemini, Shohei (Electric Trouble & Wrecking Crew Orchestra), Acky (Fab5Boogz), AKA Ra and AKA Kin. It had been enriching to learn more about dance from these dancers, and CeeKay is keen to share the knowledge with his fellow dancers in Singapore.

Charles "Stitch" Wong
Crew: Beatboxing Experience: Beatboxing since 2007 Favourite Style: Beatboxing, Bboying
Charles, better known as Charles “Stitch” Wong, burst into the scene by clinching 4th placing in the reality singing competition, Singapore Idol 3 2009. He is known for his unique rendition of songs with the guitar, high energy beatbox routines and his emotive style of singing.
BEATBOXING
The passion for producing beats and sounds with the mouth was ignited by a Choir senior from his Junior College, Chan Wei Qi from the successful local chinese band, Milubing. After helping Charles lay the important foundation and knowledge for Charles’ beatboxing in 2004, Charles went on to experiment with the different sounds heard on the street, learning sound effects off Youtube and training tirelessly everyday.
Charles has done beatboxing collaborations with celebrities like Malay A cappella group Just B, Jasmine Tye, Dharni, Zul Mystroe, and Taiwan celebrity Peter Huang. He also opened for the Kanye West “Glow in the Dark Concert” in 2008.
He has performed to President SR Nathan in 2006 at the Istana Open House and to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Speak Chinese Campaign 2006.
After performing more than 150 shows till this day, he now judges beatboxing competitions, like the Asia Beatbox Championships in 2007-2008, Natasha Studio’s “Listen to the Music” Competition in 2009, and Beat it beatboxing competition by Lasalle in 2010.
SINGING & GUITAR
In 2009, Charles was the top 4 finalist in Singapore Idol, putting himself on the local map for his unique acoustic remixes of hit songs. People also remember him as the beatboxer of Singapore Idol Season 3, dubbing him as the “Blake Lewis” of Singapore, which he rejected saying that he would rather be known for his own style.
His first regular gig was at Acid bar, Peranakan Place in Somerset in 2007. Charles was recognised for his unique mellow yet emotive singing style, and his ability to play any song differently, in an acoustic style. Top hits from any genre could be transformed into his own style, anything from The Way I are by Timberland and Kerry Hilson, Insomnia by Craig David, Everytime we touch by Cascada, Tell Laura I Love her by Ricky Valence, and even Single ladies by Beyonce and Bad romance by Lady Gaga.
He has performed at Acid Bar, Oosh, Wala Wala, Club Dolls and is now doing a regular show at C.Nai Hong Kong Café Xpress, Marine Cove, having a solid repertoire of both Chinese and English hit songs.
TEACHING
Inspired by the golden heart of his beatbox instructor, Chan WeiQi, Charles developed a passion for teaching beatboxing. Coming up with his own syllabus compiled from many years of experience, he now teaches at established music schools like Natasha Studio, Academy IG and Music Garage. He has also set up a class at Simei for the easterners interested to pick up the art.
He also does workshops at schools from time to time, and is familiar with the common mistakes made when learning different sounds, and efficient ways to troubleshoot them.
MEDIA COVERAGE
Besides appearing on Channel 5 and 98.7fm in 2009 for Singapore Idol’s Season 3, Charles has also appeared on Channel U on a beatboxing commentary. He was also featured in the Straits times and Lianhe Zaobao about beatboxing. Charles has made radio appearances on 93.8 live, Love 97.2 and YES 93.3 talking about the craft of beatboxing.
On TV mobile, Charles wrote a song for an NYP short film “The Letters”, a slow ballad entitled “Take me home”.
For NDP 2008, he did a collaboration with Mathilda De Silva for one of the national day songs, rapping and beatboxing in “Shine on Me”.
Charles will be singing the opening song and a side song for the Chinese series, Zai Ni Zuo You, appearing on tv in the middle of 2010.
COMPETITIONS COMPETED / JUDGED
Charles started small by winning Temasek JC’s Talent time Competition in 2004 and 2005. In 2005, he took part in Singapore’s first ever beatbox competition held in Singapore, and ranked among the top 10 in Singapore.
One year later, in 2006, he clinched 2nd place in Singapore’s Club Orange Beatbox National Competition.
2007 saw him winning SMU’s Virtuoso with John Khoo.
98.7fm returned with another beatbox competition in 2008, and the top 2 finalists, Charles and Zul Mystroe, got to open for Kanye West’s “Glow in the Dark” concert at the indoor stadium.
In 2009, he clinched the Top 4 spot in Singapore Idol’s Season 3.
He also judged the Asia Beatbox Championships in 2007 – 2008, Natasha Studio’s “Listen to the Music” beatbox competition in 2009 & 2010, Life Community Special Services talent competition in Christmas 2009, NIE Starlight Singing Competition in 2010, and “Beat it” beatboxing competition by Lasalle in 2010.
